The snow is starting to melt (well mostly), and it's time to think about the next MINI Calgary Runs. The first event coming up is the 4th Annual Ice Cream Run on April 26th. This will be followed the Run to Banff on May 23. Check out the events pages for them, and register to let us know how many will be coming. There is no cost to attend these events (other then Park Entrance fees for Banff National Park). We hope to see some familiar and new faces/MINI's there.
AMVIV 6
The MINI Club of Calgary and the Edmonton MINI Club sent a total of 13 cars down to Vegas for A MINI Vacation in Vegas (AMVIV) 6. This entailed approximately 5100 km of driving (including events around Vegas) for most of us. A fun time was held by all as we gathered with 500+ other MINIs who attended the event. More then 250 showed up for the Strip Cruise! Next year more from Canada will make the trek I'm sure. Check out some of the pictures from the event at the AMVIV gallery. I'm sure more will be posted there soon too. We were even privaledged enough to bring Quack Quack Jack and Quack Quack Jill with us for the journey.
Next Meeting
The next club meeting will be April 16th. We will be gathering around 7:30, and start the real festivities at 8pm. I'm sure some AMVIV stories will be shared and pics, and we will be discussing upcoming events for the club too. If you want to get involved this is a great place to get started!
New Items
The MINI Club of Calgary has some new items coming soon, including Grill badges (will be for sale soon for $7 ea). We also have a club flag for events, and it already made a great showing in Vegas!
That's it for now. We hope for great weather coming soon, and lots of fun twisties!
At least that's what the calendar says. It seems the weather is 'starting' to get nicer, so it's time to get the MINIs out for some fun. Here are some upcoming events you can plan for!
March 26 - 29 - A Mini Vacation in Vegas (AMVIV). In case you have been in the dark, there is a fairly large group of MINIs from Calgary and Edmonton heading down.
May 23rd - Time to head to Banff again to kick off the first longer run of the year. Those that attended in the fall last year can remember a fantastic drive through the mountains and some great scenes.
July 5th - It's STAMPEDE, and the club is planning to hit a stampede breakfast and then go MINI Golfing. Mark it down...
Many more events are planned, and they can be checked out on the Events page.
There have been a few upgrades and changes to the website that have effected everyone. The first is the integration of the profile manager with the forum. What has this done:
1. Better integration of all the site features.
2. More future expansion ability.
3. Profile Picture and MINI info available and searchable. Add some details on your MINI for all to see!
Thanks to everyone who volunteered their time, donated presents and pitched in where they could to help support the 1st Annual "STUFF-A-MINI", it was a big success. I believe that everyone will agree that it was a pleasant sight to see the Clubman stuffed to the gills and with more presents to add to the overflow. We had eight MINIs making the run to the YWCA today, where the temperature topped at -26 C. Then the real reward was being able to donate these presents to a very appreciative YWCA, to help them to brighten the day of women and children, who have had to flee a dangerous situation leaving their possessions behind.
Suddenly the -26C didn't seem so cold.
I would like to wish everyone at the YWCA and their guests a Merry Christmas and a Brighter New Year.
