TOPIC: Stuff a MINI 2010

Stuff a MINI 2010 2 years, 6 months ago #4492

It's that time of year again! The MINI Club of Calgary is proud to present Stuff a MINI 2010. MINI Crowfoot is accepting donations on behalf of the YWCA.

We will deliver the toys and other items on Saturday Dec 18, 2010. We will meet at MINI Crowfoot, and deliver the toys to the YWCA downtown.

Here is a list of items that the YWCA was asking for last year. This year, I see they would like monetary donations as well, in order to be able to tailor the gifts to the needs of the women and children at the homes.

The YWCA appreciates all gifts of a non-violent nature to benefit the women and children who seek their assistance.

From 2009.
This year the YWCA has prepared a wish list of items, in three categories, Gifts in Kind, Gifts that Nourish and Monetary Gifts.

Gifts to Give in Kind

Diapers – newborns to size six
Diaper Wipes
Infant Formula, bottles, & sippy cups
Socks, pajamas & slippers in all sizes
Bras and underwear in all sizes
Towels and face clothes
Bedding – twin XL and Standard
Pillows, blankets and comforters
Plates, bowls, mugs and glasses
Cutlery, kitchen utensils and pots
Alarm clocks and blow dryers
Journals and pens

Gifts That Nourish (YWCA is in need of non-perishable foods with nutritional value and far off expiry date that can be combined together as a meal)

Canned Meats and Fish
Canned Fruits and Vegetables
Soups (canned or dry)
Canned evaporated milk
Tetra pack rice or soya milk
Powdered milk
Canned beans
Canned lentils and beans
Dry lentils and beans
Whole grain rice or Minute rice
100% real fruit juice boxes
Individual packages of pasta or rice (like sidekicks)
Microwaveable chicken/rice dinners
Whole grain pasta and pasta sauce
Instant Potatoes
Peanut Butter
Jam, Jelly, Fruit spread
Whole grain cereals
Cheese Whiz
Whole Grain Crackers

Monetary Gifts

A donation in any amount will help the YWCA in its work to end domestic violence, homelessness, and poverty within the community.

Should gifts (toys and such) be unwrapped or wrapped?

I was at MINI Crowfoot last week, and didn't see a MINI that was being stuffed. Is it hiding somewhere?

Yep, saw the white MINI in the middle of the showroom. Looks like it could use some more stuff in it, so if anyone is out and about nearby, please stop by and drop a few things off.

See you all Saturday to drop stuff off!

We unfortunately will not be able to attend. My MINI got pelted by rocks from idiot roofers today, and requires at the very least a new windscreen before it can be driven.

Re: Stuff a MINI 2010 2 years, 6 months ago #4535

I just wanted to send out a great big thanks to all who joined us on Saturday for the Stuff a MINI drive.

We did manage to fill a MINI and the YWCA was most gracious with what we could gather. We were a little down from previous years, but I'm sure everything helps.

Afterwards we all went for lunch and had a good visit, and was a welcome break for me in this busy Christmas season.

Merry Christmas to everyone, and I hope Santa is kind!
